The FMG Berth 4 Anderson Point project has successfully off loaded all modules from the last of the three Heavy Lift Vessels (HLVs) scheduled for the project. The completion of the transportation by the HLVs of all the modules allows the team to get stuck in and finish off the wharf. The first HLV arrived on the 10th October followed by the second on 8th November 2012. All in all, 10 wharf modules, one modularised transfer station, and 43 conveyor modules and associated steel work were transported via the three HLVs. Read more

Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) awarded McConnell Dowell the design and construct (D&C) contract for the Pilbara Iron Ore Infrastructure Project at Port Hedland in Western Australia. FMG is positioning itself as the third major iron ore producer in Australia. MacDow's scope of work included a load-out berth, a lay-by berth and navigation aids. The load-out berth comprises a 100 m long approach jetty complete with roadway and elevated conveyor trusses; a transfer station platform with wharf conveyor, drive and belt change-out areas; and a wharf structure to supports the shiploader. The DBNGP is a natural gas pipeline stretching almost 1600km across Western Australia from Bunbury in the south to Dampier in the North.
