Stage 1 of the Snowtown Windfarm is situated along two prominent ridgelines on the Barunga and Hummock Ranges, west of Snowtown, South Australia. The project consisted of the design and construction of turbine footings and associated civil works for the subsequent installation and supply of 47 Suzlon S88 wind turbines. With parts of the site having been identified as of heritage significance, Aboriginal monitors were present during road construction and excavation of some of the foundations, while measures were also undertaken to minimise dust and prevent the spread of weeds.
