The Company is pleased to advise that the AdelaideAqua consortium, which includes McConnell Dowell, has been named by South Australian Premier Mike Rann as the preferred bidder for construction of Adelaide’s new 50-gigalitre desalination plant to be built at Port Stanvac. The AdelaideAqua consortium companies comprise Australian-based McConnell Dowell, Spanish firm Acciona Agua, Abigroup and United Utilities. South Australian-based building and engineering company Built Environs has today announced acquisition of a 100% interest in the Western Australian-based Perth Building Company (PBC). This acquisition builds on the success of the very close relationship that’s developed between the two companies while working together in the Built Environs Perth Building Company joint venture (BEPBC JV). BEPBC JV projects in WA include the award-winning Burswood Office redevelopment and the Ellenbrook Shopping Centre redevelopment, currently under construction. McConnell Dowell, as part of the Adelaide Aqua consortium (including Abigroup, Acciona Agua & United Utilities) are designing and constructing the Adelaide reverse osmosis seawater desalination plant to deliver 100 GL of desalinated water per annum, about half of Adelaide’s water needs.
