The Tahuna Ocean Outfall project in Dunedin, New Zealand was awarded the New Zealand Constructors Federation Award in Category 5 – projects exceeding $20 million – on Friday, 14th of August.The annual awards, which are open to all members of the New Zealand Contractors’ Federation, cover major civil engineering, construction and general contracting projects completed during the past year with judges paying specific attention to excellence in planning, control and quality by project teams.The project, which was completed in May 2009, included construction of a 510 m long tunnel from Tahuna Waste Water Treatment plant 250 m offshore beyond the surf zone.
