Orchard MRT to Tangs Plaza Underpass Upgrade Contract Award

The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell South East Asia Pte Ltd has been awarded the design and construct contract for the Orchard MRT to Tangs Plaza Underpass Upgrade project by the Singapore Land Transport Authority. The underground link, which was originally built by McConnell Dowell, will be upgraded between Orchard MRT and Tangs Plaza. The upgrade will involve the expansion of the pedestrian capacity of the existing underpass, as well as providing for new underground retail areas. The dimensions of the underpass are 46m long x 36m wide and 10m deep. Design commences immediately with site works due to begin in July for a 43 month duration.   ENDS About

From Bridge to Underpass

The Department for Transport, Energy & Infrastructure of South Australia (DTEI) awarded McConnell Dowell an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract for the replacement of the dilapidated Bakewell Bridge with an underpass in Adelaide, South Australia. Used by 25,000 cars per day, the 80 year old bridge formed a vital arterial into Adelaide's CBD. Working with DTEI on South Australia's first ECI project, the team developed and assessed a number of configurations to find a solution that best balanced community, technical and cost parameters.  The selected option includes two traffic lanes in each direction separated by a median; on-road bicycle lanes on each side of the road; and a wide shared-use path

Komo Airfield, PNG, Contract Award

South Road Upgrade Project Award

The Company is pleased to advise that Built Environs has been awarded the contract to upgrade a heavily-used 1.5km section of South Road, Old Noarlunga, for the South Australian Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI). The Built Environs engineering team will be upgrading two major signalised intersections, involving the movement of around 10,000m3 of earthworks and 22,000t of profiling and asphalt works. The work will ultimately help with the management of current and future peak traffic volumes to and from Adelaide and the growing southern suburbs region, including Victor Harbour. Waitaki Bridges, ECI Contract Award

The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell Constructors Ltd has been confirmed as the preferred tenderer for the Waitaki Bridges Replacement Project for the New Zealand Transport Agency. This project is to be delivered as an early contractor involvement (ECI) contract. The contract is divided into two separable portions, SP2 and SP3. SP2 will involve preparation of a specimen design, negotiation of commercial terms (including price) and contract duration. SP3 involves the completion of the detailed design and physical works. Memorial Avenue ECI Contract Award

The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell, in joint venture with Downer EDI, have been confirmed as the preferred tenderer by the New Zealand Transport Agency's (NZTA) for the Christchurch Western Corridor Route Memorial Avenue Intersection upgrade. The project is to be delivered as an early contractor involvement (ECI) contract and forms part of the Christchurch Western Corridor route, connecting the northern and southern Canterbury areas with Christchurch International Airport. GTO Wins Industry Award

The Company is pleased to announce that the Glenelg Tram Overpass (GTO) project has received an award for excellence at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia Excellence Awards, held on Saturday, 8th of May. Ambuklao & Binga Hydropower Plants Civil Works, Philippines, Award

Corio Quay North Wharf & Ship Loader Construction Award

Jakarta Tank Terminal project

The Company is pleased to announce the successful completion of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) works at Tanjung Priok, Indonesia on 14 February 2009 for PT Jakarta Tanker Terminal, a joint venture between Vopak and AKR. During the 11-hour pull back operation a 552 m long, 363 t pipe bundle consisting of nine steel and HDPE pipes ranging in diameter from 6 to 16 inches was pulled approximately 31 m below the sea bed.

Adelaide Desalination Preferred Bidder

The Company is pleased to advise that the AdelaideAqua consortium, which includes McConnell Dowell, has been named by South Australian Premier Mike Rann as the preferred bidder for construction of Adelaide’s new 50-gigalitre desalination plant to be built at Port Stanvac. The AdelaideAqua consortium companies comprise Australian-based McConnell Dowell, Spanish firm Acciona Agua, Abigroup and United Utilities. Together they will design, build, operate and maintain the plant for 20 years for South Australia Water.
