RGP5 Safety Award
The FAST JV has awarded the first of their Monthly Safety Awards to McConnell Dowell. The Safety Awards take into account all contractors working on RGP 5 (Rapid Growth Project 5 Marine Works) Port Development works for BHP Billiton Iron Ore.
The safety crew flag was presented by Steve Carter, Marine Superintendent FAST JV to Hale Bray, Safety Representative and the Temporary Construction Load Out Facility work group (TCLOF).
This safety award was awarded in recognition for continued safety performance and effort that the TCLOF team has shown towards safety. This included but not limited to setting up of the TCLOF area, crane and heavy lift operations, house keeping, plant and equipment,
Southern Regional Water Pipeline Project
LinkWater, a new water infrastructure company formed by the Queensland Government in 2006 to manage the existing and long term potable water requirements of South East Queensland, awarded McConnnell Dowell, in joint venture, the Southern Regional Water Pipeline Project (SRWP).
One of LinkWater’s most important tasks was to oversee the construction of a new water grid with the flexibility and capacity to move large volumes of water throughout the growing region.
SRWP Runners-up in Chevron Award
We are pleased to announce that the Southern Regional Water Pipeline Alliance Project (SRWP) was awarded runner-up status in the 2007 Chevron Health and Safety awards announced at the International Pipeline & Offshore Contractors Association (IPLOCA) conference in Athens on 2 October 2008.
The awards acknowledge companies who proactively prevent accidents and injuries on their projects and demonstrate outstanding safety results. The selection criteria included demonstration of proactive programmes and/or processes, unique innovations or initiatives to avoid accidents and well-defined systems, procedures or practices which
ExxonMobil Civil Works Safety Award
We are pleased to advise that our team on the IRF project in Singapore have been awarded “Contractor of the Month” by Client ExxonMobil in recognition of our exceptional safety performance on the project during the month of July.
ExxonMobil assess their contractors’ safety performance on a wide range of criteria including site compliance, management commitment to safety, safety incentives and promotions as well as participation in ExxonMobil’s own safety program ‘CORE’.
MacDow is currently undertaking three separate contracts for ExxonMobil and is achieving excellent safety results on all.
PARS Project Safety Achievement
The Company is pleased to advise that the PARS Project in Singapore has achieved 2,000,000 man-hours LTI free.
This is a credit to all our employees, their positive attitude to safety, the implementation and adherence to our systems and our close working relationship with our client, Foster Wheeler Worley Parsons, and the refinery owner and operator, Exxon Mobil that has resulted in such a significant safety milestone being achieved.
The work environment is challenging on a daily basis due to working at height, heavy lifting over live operating plant, and interaction with numerous other contractors in a very confined site.

Sepon Modification Squad Safety Achievement
As of end July 2009 our “Mod Squad” team at LXML, Sepon mine, Lao PDR passed 300,000 man hours without a LTI. This achievement is even more impressive in that it has taken 50 months to reach and the work they have undertaken is generally modification and shutdown work to a live operating plant.Surpassing this milestone is testament to the positive team approach to safety and risk management.
American Samoa Safety Achievement
In January this year McConnell Dowell (American Samoa) Ltd achieved a rare double of 2,500 days and 1,500,000 man-hours LTI free.
The last LTI in American Samoa was on 1 March, 2003, on the Fitiuta Airport Extension Project, and since that time a sustained effort by all staff and employees - on in excess of 30 projects over a period of close to 7 years - has resulted in the development of an impressive safety culture.

Marina Bay Sands Safety Achievement
The Marina Bay Sands Project Team has achieved 750,000 man-hours LTI Free.
The current stage of this multi-phased project is the accelerated works program on the Crystal Pavilions and associated Marine dredging works.
The work environment under which these LTI Free man-hours were achieved are challenging in terms of the site working 24hrs; working within a large circular marine cofferdam with restricted access; working within confined spaces; multiple lifts from marine barges and landside cranes; large volumes of concrete pours and working from height on an ever-changing multi-storey building.
Achieving this safety result in this challenging work environment is a true acknowledgement to our people and their dedication and commitment to work together

Marina Bay Sands Safety Achievement
The Company is pleased to advise that the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort (MBSIR) Project in Singapore has achieved 1,000,000 man-hours LTI free.
The 40 acre MBSIR includes three 50 storey hotel towers, linked at the top by a two acre sky garden; 90 000m² of retail outlets, a casino and museum; state-of-the art convention centre, 5,000m² event plaza and two 2,000 seat theatres.
McConnell Dowell is undertaking construction of a continuous piled promenade deck, special events plaza superstructure and two special large diameter circular cofferdams for the exclusive semi-submerged crystal pavilions in the bay complete with underwater tunnel access to the casino.

GM Diesel Engine Plant Safety Achievement
The General Motors Diesel Engine Plant project in Thailand recently achieved 250,000 man-hours LTI free.
This milestone has been reached through the implementation of MacDow’s Safety Management System and close co-operation and good communication by all MacDow employees and sub-contractors.

NZ Contractors’ Federation Awards Recipient
The Company is pleased to advise that we were the recipient of multiple Safety and Environmental awards at the recent NZ Contractors’ Federation Awards night in Auckland.
The Mechanical business was the Safety winner on the night in the projects under $500,000 category.
The Rosedale Outfall project won two safety awards and one environmental award on the night. The project was the joint Safety winner (projects over $10 million) as well as joint winner over all categories. The project was also the joint Environmental winner (projects over $10 million).
The awards are hotly contested and confirm our position as a leader in the Safety and Environmental fields in construction in New Zealand.

Toka Tindung Gold Processing Plant Safety Achievement
The company is pleased to announce the recent achievement by PT McConnell Dowell Indonesia of 250,000 man hours without a Lost Time Injury on the Toka Tindung Gold Mine Processing Facility.
The project is currently well into construction phase with multi disciplined work fronts being undertaken simultaneously with over 650 people including sub contractors working day and night shift to achieve the scheduled Gold Pour Date.
The project has a robust construction philosophy with a dedicated project team to ensure that the MacDow safety systems are executed. The close co-operation with excellent safety communication and practices to the work force between our construction management team superintendents and supervisors has contributed to this

DUSUP Project Safety Achievement
The Company is pleased to advise that the Dutco McConnell Dowell Middle East team working on the Dubai Supply Authority DUSUP Project has achieved one million man-hours without an LTI.
The site team has worked diligently to raise safety awareness and safe work behaviours on the project and consistently achieved all the targets set.
The current Near Miss Incident Frequency Rate also sits at 74 and the project has had 20,557 HSE observation cards.
