Northern Pipeline Interconnector Stage 2 – Queensland

IRPC Gas Pipeline Project, Thailand

SRWP Project Wins ACEA Award

The Company is pleased to announce that the Southern Regional Water Pipeline Alliance has won a Gold Award in the transport and civil infrastructure category of the 2009 Association of Consulting Engineers Australia (ACEA) Awards for Excellence for its work on the South East Queensland Water Grid Interconnection pipeline system. IRPC Natural Gas Pipeline Project Achievement

The Company is pleased to advise that the HDD team on the IRPC Natural Gas Pipeline Project in Rayong, Thailand, successfully completed a 1,877 m long horizontal directional drill using the intersect technique on Wednesday, 2 June. The drill was completed using McConnell Dowell's American Auger DD625 rig in conjunction with two other HDD rigs supplied by our subcontractor, Strega. The team used the 280 tonne capacity DD625 rig to drill a 121/4" dia. pilot hole at depths of approximately 30 metres over a length of 1,817 metres. Due to the softness of the soil formation at the far end, steering past this point became difficult. This rig was equipped with the

DBNGP Stage 5B Looping, Western Australia, Award

Braemar 3 Gas Pipeline - Project Award

The Company is pleased to advise the McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd have been selected by ERM as the preferred ECI contractor for the Braemar 3 gas pipeline in Queensland, Australia.The scope includes the design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing and pre-commissioning of a 16’’ x X70 pipeline and its associated facilities.  The Braemar 3 pipeline will be tied in at the ’Kenya’ facility and will run generally south toward the New South Wales border for 155 km and connect to a new gas fired power plant.ERM intends to work with Macdow in an Early Contractor Involvement process with the aim of forming an EPC Contract by October 1, 2009.

Dan Morgan wins APIA Award

Dan received the award at the 2009 APIA Convention and Exhibition held in Cairns, Queensland on 19 October 2009. FTP Interconnecting Pipelines Project Award

The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell Constructors Thai Ltd has been awarded the EPC contract for the Fourth Transmission Pipeline Interconnecting Pipelines Project by PTT Public Company Ltd (PTT). The Interconnecting Pipelines package forms part of the new gas transmission pipeline to transport gas from the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal at the Maptaput Industrial Estate near Rayong to a tie-in station on the existing Wang Noi to Kaeng Khoi Pipeline in Saraburi Province. The Interconnecting Pipelines package will provide for bidirectional transfer of gas between the LNG Terminal and the existing PTT Gas Separation Plant. Ayer Chawan Basin Project Award

The Company is pleased to announce that JTC Corporation has awarded McConnell Dowell South East Asia Pte Ltd the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the diversion of the existing 48” submarine oil pipeline at Ayer Chawan Basin, Jurong Island. Due to land reclamation works within the Ayer Chawan basin, the existing submarine 48” pipeline, which was installed by McConnell Dowell in 1980 needs to be replaced by a new approx 1km land 50” pipeline. Once the new 50” pipeline has been fully constructed and tested the hot tapping works will commence to divert the oil into the new pipeline, thereby ensuring no stoppage of oil delivery to the refinery.

Southern Regional Water Pipeline Project

LinkWater, a new water infrastructure company formed by the Queensland Government in 2006 to manage the existing and long term potable water requirements of South East Queensland, awarded McConnnell Dowell, in joint venture, the Southern Regional Water Pipeline Project (SRWP). Jakarta Tank Terminal project

The Company is pleased to announce the successful completion of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) works at Tanjung Priok, Indonesia on 14 February 2009 for PT Jakarta Tanker Terminal, a joint venture between Vopak and AKR. During the 11-hour pull back operation a 552 m long, 363 t pipe bundle consisting of nine steel and HDPE pipes ranging in diameter from 6 to 16 inches was pulled approximately 31 m below the sea bed.

Adelaide Desalination Preferred Bidder

The Company is pleased to advise that the AdelaideAqua consortium, which includes McConnell Dowell, has been named by South Australian Premier Mike Rann as the preferred bidder for construction of Adelaide’s new 50-gigalitre desalination plant to be built at Port Stanvac. The AdelaideAqua consortium companies comprise Australian-based McConnell Dowell, Spanish firm Acciona Agua, Abigroup and United Utilities. Together they will design, build, operate and maintain the plant for 20 years for South Australia Water.

Tahuna Ocean Outfall Project Wins NZ Constructors Federation Award

The Tahuna Ocean Outfall project in Dunedin, New Zealand was awarded the New Zealand Constructors Federation Award in Category 5 – projects exceeding $20 million – on Friday, 14th of August.The annual awards, which are open to all members of the New Zealand Contractors’ Federation, cover major civil engineering, construction and general contracting projects completed during the past year with judges paying specific attention to excellence in planning, control and quality by project teams.The project, which was completed in May 2009, included construction of a 510 m long tunnel from Tahuna Waste Water Treatment plant 250 m offshore beyond the surf zone. Sydney Desalination Plant Distribution Network Project- Project Milestone

The Company is pleased to advise that the Water Delivery Alliance which includes Sydney Water, McConnell Dowell, Bovis Lend Lease, KBR, Worley Parsons and Environmental Resource Management, has successfully reached three significant milestones for the Sydney Desalination Plant Distribution Network project. On 26 August 2009 the team successfully completed pipelaying across Botany Bay which included world first tandem laying of twin 1,422 mm diameter pipes 7,015m across Botany Bay from Kyeemagh to Silver Beach at Kurnell. The pipes were installed from a purpose built laybarge called the Nebula. The 100 m by 30 m wide and 35 m high pipelay vessel
