South Road Upgrade Project Award
The Company is pleased to advise that Built Environs has been awarded the contract to upgrade a heavily-used 1.5km section of South Road, Old Noarlunga, for the South Australian Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI).
The Built Environs engineering team will be upgrading two major signalised intersections, involving the movement of around 10,000m3 of earthworks and 22,000t of profiling and asphalt works.
The work will ultimately help with the management of current and future peak traffic volumes to and from Adelaide and the growing southern suburbs region, including Victor Harbour.

NZ Contractors’ Federation Awards Recipient
The Company is pleased to advise that we were the recipient of multiple Safety and Environmental awards at the recent NZ Contractors’ Federation Awards night in Auckland.
The Mechanical business was the Safety winner on the night in the projects under $500,000 category.
The Rosedale Outfall project won two safety awards and one environmental award on the night. The project was the joint Safety winner (projects over $10 million) as well as joint winner over all categories. The project was also the joint Environmental winner (projects over $10 million).
The awards are hotly contested and confirm our position as a leader in the Safety and Environmental fields in construction in New Zealand.

Rail Safety Accreditation secured for Victoria
The Company is pleased to announce we have secured rail safety accreditation in Victoria.
We are now a fully accredited Rolling Stock Operator and are able to run our newly purchased rail plant on all railways across the state to do construction and maintenance work. Accreditation is South Australia has also been achieved.
This is a significant development and we now join a small number of companies who have shown that they have the right safety infrastructure in place to deliver rail in a live rail environment.
Securing the accreditation also reduces our costs for rail construction and maintenance projects, allowing us to route our plant on the rail between jobs, which reduces
North Melbourne Station Upgrade Wins CCF Award
The Company is pleased to advise that the North Melbourne Station Upgrade has won the Category 4 division (projects valued between $20m and $75m) at the 2010 Victorian CCF Earth Awards for Excellence in Civil Construction. Awards were announced on Friday, August 20 at the Victorian CCF Branch Dinner.
The CCF Earth Awards are Australia’s premier civil construction industry awards, and recognise contractors who display excellence in construction techniques, environmental management and project management.
The Department of Infrastructure together with Connex awarded McConnell Dowell the design and construct contract for the North Melbourne Railway Station Upgrade.

Pilbara Iron Ore Infrastructure - Phase A & B
Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) awarded McConnell Dowell the design and construct (D&C) contract for the Pilbara Iron Ore Infrastructure Project at Port Hedland in Western Australia. FMG is positioning itself as the third major iron ore producer in Australia.
MacDow's scope of work included a load-out berth, a lay-by berth and navigation aids. The load-out berth comprises a 100 m long approach jetty complete with roadway and elevated conveyor trusses; a transfer station platform with wharf conveyor, drive and belt change-out areas; and a wharf structure to supports the shiploader. The wharf includes shiploader rails; six independent berthing dolphins including fenders and quick release mooring hooks and controls; and trafficable concrete
Southern Regional Water Pipeline Project
LinkWater, a new water infrastructure company formed by the Queensland Government in 2006 to manage the existing and long term potable water requirements of South East Queensland, awarded McConnnell Dowell, in joint venture, the Southern Regional Water Pipeline Project (SRWP).
One of LinkWater’s most important tasks was to oversee the construction of a new water grid with the flexibility and capacity to move large volumes of water throughout the growing region.

We are pleased to announce that McConnell Dowell Philippines Inc has been awarded the contract for civil works associated with the refurbishment of the Ambuklao and Binga Hydropower plants.
The two plants, located near Baguio City in the Philippines, were commissioned over 40 years ago and have been severely compromised by major siltation and volcanic activity.
