The Company is pleased to announce that following projects have recently been awarded to McConnell Dowell Constructors Thai Ltd for our Thailand Fabrication Yard:
Chatree North Gold Project: Ausenco Services Pty Ltd. In conjunction with Akara Mining Ltd has awarded the supply and fabrication of structural steelwork in excess of 1,200 tonnes.
Thrust Frame Sickle Damper: Baltec Inlet & Exhaust Systems Pty Ltd Australia has awarded a contract for the fabrication of a Thrust Frame Sickle Damper, for Queensland Nickle.
Chatree North Gold Project: Outotec Pty Ltd. has awarded a contract for the fabrication of one 30M Dia. High Rate Thickener for the Chatree North Gold Project.

We are pleased to announce the opening of McConnell Dowell Constructors Thai Ltd’s new fabrication facility in Maptaphut, Thailand.
The new facility occupies a 77,000m2 site situated 40 minutes from both Laem Chabang and Sattahip International Ports and adjacent to the busy industrial estates of the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand.

The Company is pleased to announce that Baltec Inlet & Exhaust Systems Pty Ltd Australia has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors Thai Ltd a contract for the fabrication of one GE frame 6B Gas Turbine Exhaust Systems and 5 GE Frame 6B Gas Turbines.
The units, each with a final weight of 333 tons excluding diverter, are destined for Intergrated Refinery & Petrochemical Complex Public Company’s (IRPC) Combined Heat & Power Plant (CHP) project.

McConnell Dowell's Batam Facility is the company's key fabrication yard in South East Asia.
Established in 1998, the facility covers 15 hectares and is strategically located 20 km from Singapore. Located in a trade free zone to cater for export fabrication, the facility supplies Australian, Pacific, South East Asian and Middle Eastern clients. The site has open water frontage and a draft of five metres for shipping and barge load-out.
The facility operates to international quality, safety and environmental standards and is staffed with a skilled Indonesian workforce which is supervised by an expatriate management team. Phu Bia Mining Fabrication Project Award, Laos
The Company is pleased to announce that Phu Bia Mining Ltd. (Laos), a subsidiary of Pan Australia, has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors Thai Ltd a contract for the fabrication of two reclaim feeder chutes.
The two chutes are supplied complete with bissalloy and duaplate liner plates.

The Company is pleased to announce that the Qatalum Aluminium Smelter commenced its initial start-up operations on the 16th December 2009, two weeks ahead of the official milestone.
The initial start-up utilises 22 Pots out of the total 352 Pots in the finished refinery.

Sentosa Bridge Project Completion
The Company is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Sentosa Bridge project in Singapore for Resorts World at Sentosa on time and on budget.
The design and construct project was for a new 380m segmentally launched road bridge to travel to and from Singapore to Sentosa Island.
Key to completing the project in such a short construction period was the maximisation of precast concrete elements and the modularisation of the steel truss bridges at the Company’s Batam fabrication facility.
With such a challenging environment involving limited access for heavy lift barges and strong currents, this project showcased how MacDow’s Creative Construction can overcome all challenges.
The project also achieved over 715,000 man-hours
Pilbara Iron Ore Infrastructure - Phase A & B
Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) awarded McConnell Dowell the design and construct (D&C) contract for the Pilbara Iron Ore Infrastructure Project at Port Hedland in Western Australia. FMG is positioning itself as the third major iron ore producer in Australia.
MacDow's scope of work included a load-out berth, a lay-by berth and navigation aids. The load-out berth comprises a 100 m long approach jetty complete with roadway and elevated conveyor trusses; a transfer station platform with wharf conveyor, drive and belt change-out areas; and a wharf structure to supports the shiploader. The wharf includes shiploader rails; six independent berthing dolphins including fenders and quick release mooring hooks and controls; and trafficable concrete

Helios Bulk Liquid Storage
Helios Terminals Corporation awarded McConnell Dowell an engineer, procure and construct (EPC) contract for mechanical and civil works associated with their new liquid storage and blending facility on Jurong Island. MacDow procured and constructed tank foundations; pipe racks; bund walls; valve and pump manifold; piping; loading arms; jetty topsides; and other facilities including offices.

MCG Concourse High Commendation
The Company is pleased to announce that the MCG Concourse Redevelopment Project received a High Commendation at the 2009 Engineers Australia Engineering Excellence Awards, Victorian Division, for Excellence in Infrastructure Projects (up to $20million).
The awards were announced on Thursday, September 17 at the Victorian Engineers Australia Branch Dinner. The Excellence Awards recognise the highest level of achievement in the engineering field. They provide peer recognition of outstanding engineering work as well as providing an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the invaluable contribution the engineering profession makes to the community.
The Melbourne Cricket Club, which manages the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), awarded MacDow the MCG Concourse Widening Redevelopment project in mid-2008.
Dan Morgan wins APIA Award
The Company is pleased to announce that Dan Morgan has been presented with the 2009 Australian Pipeline Industry Association (APIA) Young Achievement Award.
Dan received the award at the 2009 APIA Convention and Exhibition held in Cairns, Queensland on 19 October 2009. Noel Pearson, who is a notable advocate of Cape York Partnerships and Indigenous Land Rights in north Queensland, presented Dan with the award.

Meander Dam Concrete Award
McConnell Dowell is pleased to announce that McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd was awarded the 2009 Award for Excellence in Concrete in the Engineering Projects category by the Concrete Institute of Australia for work on the Meander Dam project in Tasmania.
The award recognised the functional, aesthetic and economic worth of the project with particular emphasis on the appropriateness of concrete construction to the purpose of the structure.

Sino Iron Project Marine Works Contract Award
The Company is pleased to advise that Sino Iron Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Hong Kong listed Citic Pacific Ltd, has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd a contract for the construction of marine facilities associated with their Sino Iron Project. Citic Pacific Mining Management Pty Ltd. is acting as the principal’s representative.
The Sino Iron Project, located at Cape Preston, approximately 1,500 km north of Perth, involves the establishment of an iron ore mine and related facilities, including marine loading and unloading facilities. McConnell Dowell’s works consist of four separable portions:
Installation of caissons for service wharf, construction of a module offload facility and installation of a desalination seawater intake;

The company is pleased to announce that the team on the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Looping Pipeline project in Western Australia have achieved over 1 million man-hours LTI free.

SRWP Project Recognised at AAA
The company is pleased to announce that the Southern Regional Water Pipeline project has been recognised in the Alliancing Association of Australasia’s Excellence Awards with a High Commendation.
“The Southern Regional Water Pipeline Alliance Project began as a single regional infrastructure project in South East Queensland and grew to become a $1.3 billion program of works over an area spanning 200 km.
