Adelaide Desalination Transfer Pipeline Project Award

The Company is pleased to announce that the South Australia Water Corporation (SA Water) has awarded the Adelaide Desalination Transfer Pipeline Project to McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd in joint venture with Built Environs Pty Ltd. This significant award is the culmination of an extensive pre-qualification and early contractor involvement (ECI) process. The project includes the design and construction of the transfer pipeline system which will link Adelaide’s new desalination plant to its existing water supply. The scope of work

Adelaide Desalination Preferred Bidder

The Company is pleased to advise that the AdelaideAqua consortium, which includes McConnell Dowell, has been named by South Australian Premier Mike Rann as the preferred bidder for construction of Adelaide’s new 50-gigalitre desalination plant to be built at Port Stanvac. The AdelaideAqua consortium companies comprise Australian-based McConnell Dowell, Spanish firm Acciona Agua, Abigroup and United Utilities. Together they will design, build, operate and maintain the plant for 20 years for South Australia Water.

Water Delivery Alliance Wins CCF Award

The Company is pleased to advise that the Water Delivery Alliance (McConnell Dowell, Bovis Lend Lease, Kellogg Brown and Root, Worley Parsons, Environmental Resource Management and Sydney Water) has won the 2010 CCF Earth Awards New South Wales Division for Excellence in Civil Construction. Awards were announced on Friday, June 25 at the NSW CCF Branch Dinner. The CCF Earth Awards are Australia’s premier civil construction industry awards, and recognise contractors who display excellence in construction techniques, environmental management and project management. Perth Desalination Plant Mechanical Installation Works

McConnell Dowell was selected as a sub-alliance partner for Water Corporation's 45 GL/year Perth seawater desalination plant. The plant is one of the largest desalination plant in the southern hemisphere and provides 17% of Perth's water supply MacDow's responsibility as a sub-alliance partner involved all the mechanical, structural and piping works. This included the installation of mechanical equipment including the reverse osmosis filters and pumps, and the installation of over 23,000

Sydney Desalination Plant Distribution Network Project- Project Milestone

The Company is pleased to advise that the Water Delivery Alliance which includes Sydney Water, McConnell Dowell, Bovis Lend Lease, KBR, Worley Parsons and Environmental Resource Management, has successfully reached three significant milestones for the Sydney Desalination Plant Distribution Network project. On 26 August 2009 the team successfully completed pipelaying across Botany Bay which included world first tandem laying of twin 1,422 mm diameter pipes 7,015m across Botany Bay from Kyeemagh to Silver Beach at Kurnell. The pipes were installed from a purpose built laybarge called the Nebula. The 100 m by 30 m wide and 35 m high pipelay vessel

TBMs Arrive at Adelaide Desal Plant

The Company is pleased to advise that on the 18th of November two $15 million 150 t tunnel boring machines (TBMs), ‘Cora the Bora’ and ‘Nessie’, arrived on site at the 100 GL Adelaide Desalination Plant project to begin work on the 1.5 km intake and 1 km outlet tunnels. The TBMs were named by local Hallett Cove Primary School grade 5 students Selena Spink and Ellie Jamieson, who won the “Name the Tunnel Boring Machine Competition” run by SA Water and AdelaideAqua. LinkWater, a new water infrastructure company formed by the Queensland Government in 2006 to manage the existing and long term potable water requirements of South East Queensland, awarded McConnnell Dowell, in joint venture, the Southern Regional Water Pipeline Project (SRWP). Pipelines & HDD

Sino Iron Project Marine Works Contract Award

The Company is pleased to advise that Sino Iron Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Hong Kong listed Citic Pacific Ltd, has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd a contract for the construction of marine facilities associated with their Sino Iron Project. Citic Pacific Mining Management Pty Ltd. is acting as the principal’s representative. The Sino Iron Project, located at Cape Preston, approximately 1,500 km north of Perth, involves the establishment of an iron ore mine and related facilities, including marine loading and unloading facilities.
