Rapid Growth Project 5 Marine Works Award
The Company is pleased to advise that BHP Billiton Iron Ore Pty Ltd has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd, Rapid Growth Project 5 Marine Works, in Western Australia.
The scope of works consists of the design and construction, material supply, plant and labour of two additional iron ore export berths at Harriet Point (Berths G and H) inside the harbour at Port Hedland, Western Australia. Mobilisation to site is expected to commence in March 2009.
Adelaide Desalination Transfer Pipeline Project Award
The Company is pleased to announce that the South Australia Water Corporation (SA Water) has awarded the Adelaide Desalination Transfer Pipeline Project to McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd in joint venture with Built Environs Pty Ltd. This significant award is the culmination of an extensive pre-qualification and early contractor involvement (ECI) process.

Braemar 3 Gas Pipeline - Project Award
The Company is pleased to advise the McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd have been selected by ERM as the preferred ECI contractor for the Braemar 3 gas pipeline in Queensland, Australia.The scope includes the design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing and pre-commissioning of a 16’’ x X70 pipeline and its associated facilities. The Braemar 3 pipeline will be tied in at the ’Kenya’ facility and will run generally south toward the New South Wales border for 155 km and connect to a new gas fired power plant.ERM intends to work with Macdow in an Early Contractor Involvement process with the aim of forming an EPC Contract by October 1, 2009.
Meander Dam Concrete Award
McConnell Dowell is pleased to announce that McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd was awarded the 2009 Award for Excellence in Concrete in the Engineering Projects category by the Concrete Institute of Australia for work on the Meander Dam project in Tasmania.
The award recognised the functional, aesthetic and economic worth of the project with particular emphasis on the appropriateness of concrete construction to the purpose of the structure.

Ellenbrook Shopping Centre Project Award
The Company is pleased to announce Built Environs, as part of a Joint Venture with Perth Building Company, has been awarded the Ellenbrook Shopping Centre – Stage 2 in Western Australia.
The project involves the development of approximately 8 hectares that will provide an additional 19,000m2 of lettable area (24,000m2 of GFA) including a Big W discount department store, a Coles supermarket, specialty stores and variety stores.
The client is The Insurance Commission of Western Australia and work begins in early January with a build period of 60 weeks.

From Bridge to Underpass
The Department for Transport, Energy & Infrastructure of South Australia (DTEI) awarded McConnell Dowell an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract for the replacement of the dilapidated Bakewell Bridge with an underpass in Adelaide, South Australia. Used by 25,000 cars per day, the 80 year old bridge formed a vital arterial into Adelaide's CBD.
Working with DTEI on South Australia's first ECI project, the team developed and assessed a number of configurations to find a solution that best balanced community, technical and cost parameters. Adelaide Desalination Preferred Bidder
The Company is pleased to advise that the AdelaideAqua consortium, which includes McConnell Dowell, has been named by South Australian Premier Mike Rann as the preferred bidder for construction of Adelaide’s new 50-gigalitre desalination plant to be built at Port Stanvac.
The AdelaideAqua consortium companies comprise Australian-based McConnell Dowell, Spanish firm Acciona Agua, Abigroup and United Utilities. Together they will design, build, operate and maintain the plant for 20 years for South Australia Water.

The Company is pleased to announce that Baltec Inlet & Exhaust Systems Pty Ltd Australia has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors Thai Ltd a contract for the fabrication of one GE frame 6B Gas Turbine Exhaust Systems and 5 GE Frame 6B Gas Turbines.
The units, each with a final weight of 333 tons excluding diverter, are destined for Intergrated Refinery & Petrochemical Complex Public Company’s (IRPC) Combined Heat & Power Plant (CHP) project.

RGP5 Safety Award
The FAST JV has awarded the first of their Monthly Safety Awards to McConnell Dowell. The Safety Awards take into account all contractors working on RGP 5 (Rapid Growth Project 5 Marine Works) Port Development works for BHP Billiton Iron Ore.
The safety crew flag was presented by Steve Carter, Marine Superintendent FAST JV to Hale Bray, Safety Representative and the Temporary Construction Load Out Facility work group (TCLOF).

Built Environs has received two Master Builders Association Excellence awards in South Australia.
Clements Gap Windfarm took the award in Category 11 - Excellence in Civil Construction.

Bogong Hydro Electric Scheme- Project Milestone
The Company is pleased to advise that final inspection of the waterway at Bogong Hydro Electric Scheme was successfully completed on the 4th September and the tunnel plug door closed.
Filling of the main headrace tunnel commenced at 14:00 AEST via the cooling water offtake at McKay Creek (around 200L/s) to provide a buffer of water up against the plug prior to the main fill commencing.
Water will be directed into the waterway from the McKay Creek Power Station turbines, from around 06:00 this Sunday, the 6th September. Filling will be controlled such that 20 m head will be added per hour. All going
