Vatia Bay Shoreline Protection Award of Excellence

Tagged under

The Company is pleased to advise that on the 20th May, McConnell Dowell (American Samoa) Ltd was presented with an Outstanding Performance Award by the United States Army Corps of Engineers for the Vatia Bay Shoreline Protection Project, Tutuilla Island, American Samoa.

The project involved the construction of an 890 foot long "Samoa Stone" armoured revetment along the shoreline of Vatia Bay. This was the first project ever constructed using the unique "Samoa Stone."

An additional challenge was maintaining awareness and sensitivity to the Samoan customs of this remote village. The ingenuity, experience and technical expertise demonstrated by MacDow throughout the project ensured construction was completed with high quality and four months ahead of the original completion schedule while always maintaining good community relations.
