Tagged under

The Company is pleased to advise that Fortescue Metals Pty Ltd (Fortescue) has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd a design and construct contract for a fourth iron ore loading berth, with an option of a fifth, at their Anderson Point Facility in Port Hedland.

The scope of work includes the supply and installation of:

  • 415m of wharf superstructure
  • Access jetties
  • Navigational aids
  • 9 berthing dolphins
  • All mechanical components of a material handling system used to supply a new shiploader

These works form part of the 155Mtpa expansion of the Port Facility.

Design activities commence immediately, with on-site construction activities to begin in late 2011, and project completion scheduled for October 2012.

This award represents McConnell Dowell’s fourth contract for Fortescue since 2007 and highlights the Company's industry-leading specialisation in maritime construction. We look forward to the continuation of an excellent relationship with Fortescue and their EPCM contractor, Worley Parsons, and to delivering another successful project.
