The company is pleased to announce that Linde AG have awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors Thai Ltd the mechanical installation package for an Air Separation Unit in Map Ta Phut. The scope includes all piping and mechanical installation including the erection of a 50 metre tall cold box which houses the process components which operate at very cold temperatures. Read more
Almost a year after the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) were installed, the twin Metro tunnels on the Beauty World Project have now been completed. As the final pieces of the 1000 tonne boring machines are being dismantled and demobilised from site, it is a good time to reflect on our achievements. The range of geological conditions that these 6640mm diameter ‘monsters’ bored through was as impressive as it was challenging. The company is pleased to announce that Rio Tinto have awarded McConnell Dowell the Tug Harbour Marine works for the Cape Lambert Port B Project, Western Australia. The scope includes marine works associated with the construction of a new tug pen, pontoons and access gangways. The company is please to announce the excellent safety milestone of Electrix Central Queensland on their Ergon Asset Inspection contracts, recently achieving three years without a Lost Time Injury. Working for Ergon Energy, Electrix conducts inspections of their overhead and underground network on a four year cycle, at around an average of 85,000 poles per year. Covering an area from Bowen and Airlie Beach (North Queensland) to Gin Gin and Bundaberg (South Queensland) and as far west as Birdsville and Longreach. The Company is pleased to announce that New Zealand’s Transmission Grid owner and operator, Transpower NZ Ltd, has awarded Electrix Ltd the renewal of existing term maintenance contracts. The re-issue lengthens the contract by a further 6+3 years demonstrating the successful achievement of repeat business. Outotec  Pty Ltd awarded the Company a fabrication contract for Mine processing equipment steelwork associated with the Metropolitan Coal Mine in Queensland. Lane Xang Minerals Limited awarded the Company the fabrication contract for Structural Support Steelwork for an EW Service Crane, located on the Sepon Mine site, Laos. Read more
Contract Award Extension – Asset Inspection and Maintenance Services, Electrix, Victoria The Company is pleased to announce that Powercor Australia has awarded Electrix Pty Ltd a further extension to the existing contract for provision of Asset Inspection and Maintenance Services on the Powercor and CitiPower electricity networks in Melbourne and Western Victoria. The contract includes a cyclical inspection program for network assets in high bushfire risk areas. Electrix has successfully provided a similar range of services for Powercor since 1997 when the original Asset Inspection contract was signed. The Company is pleased to advise that Towngas has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors Hong Kong Ltd, in joint venture with Kaden Construction Ltd, a contract for the installation of submarine gas pipelines and associated facilities from To Kwa Wan to North Point in Hong Kong.  The scope of work involves: Laying of twin 450 mm diameter submarine gas pipelines across Victoria Harbour – approximately 3.2 km. The twin submarine pipelines will be installed and buried in one common trench below the seabed; Laying of 600 mm diameter land gas mains for approximately 1.1 km, from the proposed To Kwa Wan Gas Pigging station to the Intermediate Pressure B (IPB) Network; and Testing and commissioning Read more
