The Company is pleased to advise that Built Environs has been awarded the contract for the upgrade of the navigable pass, fishways and ancillary works at Lock and Weir 15 on the River Murray at Robinvale on the Victorian and New South Wales border.
The contract will be signed with State Water of New South Wales, with the work scheduled to start in two weeks and be finished in a year’s time.
The scope of the work includes upgrading of the unsealed track between Euston and the weir, upgrading and modification of the navigable pass section of the weir, raising and strengthening of the sluice pass, extending the existing fishway, construction of a fishlock, some downstream erosion control works and some further work to the apron upstream of the sluice pass.
Likely challenges expected on this project include the relatively remote location, unpredictable river conditions, working over water and working off barges. Built Environs previous experience in working under similar conditions at Lock 3 at Overland Corner in South Australia and Lock 10 at Wentworth in New South Wales will come to play in dealing with these challenges.
