Beauty World Station POB Milestone

The Company is pleased to announce the successful removal of the Pedestrian Overhead Bridge (POB) at the Beauty World and Tunnels project in Singapore. To make way for the road diversion and new station, the project scope included the removal of the 33-year-old POB. The bridge stretched across the busy Bukit Timah Road, providing pedestrian access between the bus stop and Beauty World Shopping centre. To avoid public risk and major traffic disruption during the day, the POB was successfully removed in two sections over the nights of 22nd and 23rd of February. The largest and longest section was 31m with a weight of 62t. This involved a complex tandem crane lift,



Completion of URA Waterfront Promenade

The Company is pleased to advise project completion of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) Waterfront Promenade Marine Structures at Marina Bay. The Marine Structures scope comprised a 250m long 12m wide Marine Boardwalk, with 32m long x 5m wide Piles less Pontoon. The project poured 1300m3 of pre-cast concrete, 700m3 of Insitu concrete and used 3000m pf Steel Pipe Pile. The URA initiated the project as a “Park in the City”, with the emphasis on being an aesthetically pleasing feature in the heart of Singapore’s CBD. Further to the usual civil and structural challenges of the project was the additional requirement of “Architectural Intent”. An example of this challenge was the three dimensional



South Road Upgrade Project Award

The Company is pleased to advise that Built Environs has been awarded the contract to upgrade a heavily-used 1.5km section of South Road, Old Noarlunga, for the South Australian Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI). The Built Environs engineering team will be upgrading two major signalised intersections, involving the movement of around 10,000m3 of earthworks and 22,000t of profiling and asphalt works. The work will ultimately help with the management of current and future peak traffic volumes to and from Adelaide and the growing southern suburbs region, including Victor Harbour. PT BlueScope Steel Civil Works Project Award

The Company is pleased to advise that PT BlueScope Steel Indonesia has awarded PT McConnell Dowell Indonesia (PT MDI) the civil foundations package at their Cilegon plant, Indonesia. The works form part of BlueScope Steel's second metallic coating line expansion to take overall capacity from its current production of 140,000 tonnes per annum to 265,000 tonnes per annum of metallic coated and painted steel products. American Samoa Safety Achievement

In January this year McConnell Dowell (American Samoa) Ltd achieved a rare double of 2,500 days and 1,500,000 man-hours LTI free. The last LTI in American Samoa was on 1 March, 2003, on the Fitiuta Airport Extension Project, and since that time a sustained effort by all staff and employees - on in excess of 30 projects over a period of close to 7 years - has resulted in the development of an impressive safety culture. Completion of Temporary School Structures, American Samoa

The Company is pleased to announce the successful completion and handover of the Temporary School Structures Project in American Samoa on 21 January. This project involved the construction of 12 new temporary school structures spread over five villages worst hit by the devastating tsunami which struck the main island of Tutuila on 29 September, 2009. Each Temporary School involved the erection of a tent like structure on a concrete foundation and included internal walls, power and water connections. The structures, which are supplied from Sprung Structures in Canada, are made of aluminium framing bolted together with canvas skins stretched both outside and inside the framing, and thick insulation sandwiched between the two skins. APLNG Project Contract Award

The Company is pleased to announce the MC JV, a joint venture between McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust.) Pty Ltd and Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) have been awarded an early works contract by Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) Limited, a 50:50 coal seam gas (CSG) to LNG joint venture company co-owned by Origin Energy Limited (Origin) and ConocoPhillips. The early works scope for the APLNG pipelines includes: Complete and deliver FEED; Assist with project planning and procurement; and Execute early works as required. The contract commenced in December 2009 and MC JV will complete the Early Works Scope. Under the terms of the contract MC JV will work with APLNG to execute an EPC contract for the



Western Sydney Recycled Water Initiative Project Completion

The Company is pleased to announce the practical completion of the Western Sydney Recycled Water Initiative Project, with lines 2, 3 and 4 now fully connected. The existing sludge line (line 5) has also been upgraded to meet the higher pressures required for the current design. This project is a joint venture between McConnell Dowell, United Group Infrastructure and General Electric (Deerubbin Water Futures). McConnell Dowell’s scope of works consisted of the design and construction of the transfer system pipe work between Sydney’s sewerage treatment plants and the waste discharge pipe line to the Northern Suburbs Ocean Outfall Sewer (NSOOS). Ellenbrook Shopping Centre Project Award

The Company is pleased to announce Built Environs, as part of a Joint Venture with Perth Building Company, has been awarded the Ellenbrook Shopping Centre – Stage 2 in Western Australia. The project involves the development of approximately 8 hectares that will provide an additional 19,000m2 of lettable area (24,000m2 of GFA) including a Big W discount department store, a Coles supermarket, specialty stores and variety stores. Qatalum Smelter Plant Start-up Milestone

The Company is pleased to announce that the Qatalum Aluminium Smelter commenced its initial start-up operations on the 16th December 2009, two weeks ahead of the official milestone. The initial start-up utilises 22 Pots out of the total 352 Pots in the finished refinery. Dutco McConnell Dowell Middle East LLC (DMDME) is fabricating and installing all of the Main Bus Bar assemblies and the Pot Shells, then carrying out the lining of the pots before installing the Super Structures and completing the welding of the Anode Flexibles. LXML Sepon Mod Squad Renewal

The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell has been awarded a further 12 month extension of the Mod Squad contract at the LXML Sepon Copper Gold Mine, Lao PDR by the Min Metals Group (MMG). This award takes the Company into our 5th year of Mod Squad services where we are contracted to supply of Engineering Services, Labour and Equipment to the LXML Sepon Copper Gold Mine.
