GTO Wins Industry Award

The Company is pleased to announce that the Glenelg Tram Overpass (GTO) project has received an award for excellence at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia Excellence Awards, held on Saturday, 8th of May. The project, a joint award submission with our client the South Australian Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI), won the Design and/or Construction of a Public Works Project category. In April 2009, DTEI awarded McConnell Dowell the design and construction contract for the project in Adelaide, South Australia. The works included the design and construction of an 8 span, 450 m long bridge for the grade separation of a tramline over a very busy arterial road in



Toll Offshore Supply Base Foreshore and Jetty Redevelopment Project Award

The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell South East Asia Pte Ltd has been awarded the Toll Offshore Supply Base Foreshore and Jetty Redevelopment project for Toll Offshore Petroleum Services. The scope of work comprises: Construction of 280 m long x 36 m wide concrete deck wharf and rock revetment with extensive concrete pavement and hardstand areas; Widening of existing jetty structure over a length of 140 m.; 180,000 m3 dredging to existing sea bed levels; and Construction of 2 storey operational building and ancillary structures. This project will form an integral part of Toll’s greater waterfront development scheme at the Loyang Offshore Supply Base. Project award was achieved through McConnell Dowell’s ability to provide



Memorial Avenue ECI Contract Award

The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell, in joint venture with Downer EDI, have been confirmed as the preferred tenderer by the New Zealand Transport Agency's (NZTA) for the Christchurch Western Corridor Route Memorial Avenue Intersection upgrade. The project is to be delivered as an early contractor involvement (ECI) contract and forms part of the Christchurch Western Corridor route, connecting the northern and southern Canterbury areas with Christchurch International Airport. The scope that our joint venture will now design, price and negotiate to award of execution of works is for the Wairakei Road to Yaldhurst Road four lane project, which includes the upgrade of the intersection with Memorial Avenue.   ENDS About



Waymouth Street Urban Development Preferred Contractor

The Company is pleased to advise that Built Environs has been selected by the Government of South Australia's Department for Families and Communities as the preferred contractor for the 102 Waymouth Street Urban Development project. The Waymouth Street Urban Development project is a 16-storey commercial residential building in the Adelaide CBD. When completed, the building will have a gross floor area of 13,300m2 and provide 138 units for a mix of rental, affordable sale and commercial sale housing. The ground floor will include an administrative and retail area, while parking will be provided for 36 cars in a triple-stack car-lift. Waitaki Bridges, ECI Contract Award

The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell Constructors Ltd has been confirmed as the preferred tenderer for the Waitaki Bridges Replacement Project for the New Zealand Transport Agency. This project is to be delivered as an early contractor involvement (ECI) contract. The contract is divided into two separable portions, SP2 and SP3. SP2 will involve preparation of a specimen design, negotiation of commercial terms (including price) and contract duration. SP3 involves the completion of the detailed design and physical works. The physical works involve the replacement of two single lane bridges (256m and 140m long) crossing the Waitaki River on State Highway 82 which provides a link between Kurow



Pago Pago Airport Security Fence Contract Award

Christchurch Major Sewer Upgrade Contract Award

The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell Constructors Ltd has been awarded the contract for the Christchurch Major Sewer Upgrade by the Christchurch City Council. The contract comprises two separate but connecting sewer lines, Western Interceptor and Fendalton Interceptor. The Western Interceptor comprises 4 kilometres of 1200mm and 1350mm diameter gravity sewer complete with manholes and requiring services relocation and settlement monitoring. Fendalton comprises approximately 2 kilometres of between 450mm and 1050mm diameter sewer complete with manholes, services relocation, settlement monitoring and a pump station. Christchurch Ocean Outfall Diffuser Works Completion

FTP Interconnecting Pipelines Project Award

The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell Constructors Thai Ltd has been awarded the EPC contract for the Fourth Transmission Pipeline Interconnecting Pipelines Project by PTT Public Company Ltd (PTT). The Interconnecting Pipelines package forms part of the new gas transmission pipeline to transport gas from the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal at the Maptaput Industrial Estate near Rayong to a tie-in station on the existing Wang Noi to Kaeng Khoi Pipeline in Saraburi Province. The Interconnecting Pipelines package will provide for bidirectional transfer of gas between the LNG Terminal and the existing PTT Gas Separation Plant. The purpose of transferring the gas between the two facilities is to control



Marina Bay Sands Safety Achievement

The Marina Bay Sands Project Team has achieved 750,000 man-hours LTI Free. The current stage of this multi-phased project is the accelerated works program on the Crystal Pavilions and associated Marine dredging works. The work environment under which these LTI Free man-hours were achieved are challenging in terms of the site working 24hrs; working within a large circular marine cofferdam with restricted access; working within confined spaces; multiple lifts from marine barges and landside cranes; large volumes of concrete pours and working from height on an ever-changing multi-storey building. Achieving this safety result in this challenging work environment is a true acknowledgement to our people and their dedication and commitment to work together



Sentosa Bridge Project Completion

The Company is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Sentosa Bridge project in Singapore for Resorts World at Sentosa on time and on budget. The design and construct project was for a new 380m segmentally launched road bridge to travel to and from Singapore to Sentosa Island. Key to completing the project in such a short construction period was the maximisation of precast concrete elements and the modularisation of the steel truss bridges at the Company’s Batam fabrication facility. With such a challenging environment involving limited access for heavy lift barges and strong currents, this project showcased how MacDow’s Creative Construction can overcome all challenges. PT Tripolyta TBK cooling water intake structure Project Award

The Company is pleased to advise that PT McConnell Dowell Indonesia (MDI) has been awarded the contract for the cooling water intake structure for PT Tripolyta TBK. Tripolyta is a public company listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange which manufactures polypropylene and similar products for the Indonesian and international markets. As a part of a major plant expansion Tripolyta require additional cooling water capacity. The award of this project follows on from a smaller project MDI performed for Tripolyta in September 2009.
