Huntly East Mine North Shaft Project Award

The Company is pleased to advise that Solid Energy NZ (SENZ) has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors Ltd the Huntly East Mine North Shaft contract.

The scope of works consists of the construction of a 4.5m diameter concrete lined ventilation shaft that is approximately 270m deep, involving caisson sinking in the top 40m then drill and blast excavation to the bottom.

The Huntly East Mine is located 4km north of Huntly township, and has coal extraction rates of around 450,000 tonnes per year. The current high demand for coal has required an expansion of their underground mine operations.

The project has a 16 month duration.
