The Company is pleased to announce that the MCG Concourse Redevelopment Project received a High Commendation at the 2009 Engineers Australia Engineering Excellence Awards, Victorian Division, for Excellence in Infrastructure Projects (up to $20million).

The awards were announced on Thursday, September 17 at the Victorian Engineers Australia Branch Dinner. The Excellence Awards recognise the highest level of achievement in the engineering field. They provide peer recognition of outstanding engineering work as well as providing an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the invaluable contribution the engineering profession makes to the community.

The Melbourne Cricket Club, which manages the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), awarded MacDow the MCG Concourse Widening Redevelopment project in mid-2008. The ECI project involved the solution development, design and construction of a 210m long concrete wall to allow widening of a pedestrian access concourse over Melbourne’s busy Brunton Avenue. The aim of the project was to alleviate crowd congestion on the concourse during major local and international sporting events.

The Engineers Australia judges found that MacDow showed great attention to detail in the preparation and construction of the project, and the judging panel was particularly impressed by MacDow’s critical issue  analysis and the project team’s identification and reduction of risk.
