The Company is pleased to advise that Australia Pacific Airports (Melbourne) Pty Ltd (APAM) has awarded McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd the Apac Drive On-Ramp Project.
The Apac On-Ramp Project comprises an elevated road passing over the Melbourne Airport Long Term Carpark, over both the city and airport-bound carriageways of the Tullamarine Freeway, merging with the freeway as a two-lane-on ramp to the city bound carriageway prior to Mickleham Road.
This will provide an alternative egress from the airport relieving traffic congestion on Centre Road and provide future road capacity for airport development. The scope of works consists of installation of 15 insitu concrete footings and piers; two reinforced earth retaining walls and abutments; and 15 precast concrete post tensioned crossheads. The ramp deck (400 m) will be supported by 15 spans of precast concrete T-beams and one span of steel truss girder beams.
The contract also involves the construction of a 1km merge lane onto the Tullamarine Freeway. Work is anticipated to commence on site in late June with a 13-month schedule.
