The Company is pleased to advise that final inspection of the waterway at Bogong Hydro Electric Scheme was successfully completed on the 4th September and the tunnel plug door closed.
Filling of the main headrace tunnel commenced at 14:00 AEST via the cooling water offtake at McKay Creek (around 200L/s) to provide a buffer of water up against the plug prior to the main fill commencing.
Water will be directed into the waterway from the McKay Creek Power Station turbines, from around 06:00 this Sunday, the 6th September. Filling will be controlled such that 20 m head will be added per hour. All going well, the waterway will be filled completely by Monday morning.
This significant milestone has been reached ahead of schedule allowing client AGL to meet their 15 September schedule first rotation of the 70MW Unit 1 turbine.
