The Company is pleased to advise that Electrix Limited has been awarded the New Zealand Inter-Island HVDC Pole 3 Project Electrical Installation for Benmore Convertor Equipment by Siemens.
The scope of work is for the installation of Pole 3 HVDC converter equipment at Benmore substation, which consists of:
- extending and modifying the 220kV buswork for the connection of new equipment, which will include running new spans of 220kV overhead lines and installation of tubular bus work;
- installing a set of three single phase converter transformers to feed the converter equipment. The converters comprising of stacks of thyristors will be installed in the valve hall along with associated control and protection equipment in the control room; and
- installing three filter banks on the 220kV system.
Work begins in May 2011 and scheduled completion is December 2011. At the peak of the project there will be 65 Electrix people on site.
