Singapore

February 25, 2010

The Company is pleased to announce the successful removal of the Pedestrian Overhead Bridge (POB) at the Beauty World and Tunnels project in Singapore.

To make way for the road diversion and new station, the project scope included the removal of the 33-year-old POB. The bridge stretched across the busy Bukit Timah Road, providing pedestrian access between the bus stop and Beauty World Shopping centre.

To avoid public risk and major traffic disruption during the day, the POB was successfully removed in two sections over the nights of 22nd and 23rd of February. The largest and longest section was 31m with a weight of 62t. This involved a complex tandem crane lift, combined with propping and supporting the cut spans.

The removal operation went smoothly and without any major issues.
