The Company is pleased to announce that JTC Corporation has awarded McConnell Dowell South East Asia Pte Ltd the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the diversion of the existing 48” submarine oil pipeline at Ayer Chawan Basin, Jurong Island.
Due to land reclamation works within the Ayer Chawan basin, the existing submarine 48” pipeline, which was installed by McConnell Dowell in 1980 needs to be replaced by a new approx 1km land 50” pipeline. Once the new 50” pipeline has been fully constructed and tested the hot tapping works will commence to divert the oil into the new pipeline, thereby ensuring no stoppage of oil delivery to the refinery. The submarine portion of the existing 48” pipeline will then be removed using a reverse pipe lay technique.
The project design works commence immediately with site occupation to commence next month over a 17 month schedule.
