Marina South Lighter Wharf Project Award
The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell South East Asia Pte Ltd, has been awarded the Marina South Lighter Wharf project for the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
The scope of work comprises:
Construction of a 3 berth wharf, 100 m long (frontage) x 20 m wide;
39 x 800 mm dia. steel piles supporting the concrete deck;
Dredging to the front of the new berths;
Single storey office building, including M&E works (45 m long x 8 m wide);
200 m long x 10 m wide access road, including piled surface water drainage system; and
Services reticulation along the new access road alignment and connection to the existing services.

Techport Australia Common User Facility wins South Australian CCF Earth Award
A joint venture between McConnell Dowell and Built Environs has received a prestigious Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) South Australian Earth Award for its work on the Techport Australia Common User Facility (CUF) on the Port River at Osborne, South Australia.
The McConnell Dowell Built Environs joint venture (MBDE JV) completed construction of the approximate $260 million CUF in December 2009 – on budget and on schedule.
The completed facility supports shipbuilding and maintenance company ASC in delivering the Royal Australian Navy’s next generation $8 billion Air Warfare Destroyers (AWD), with the capability to support other major shipbuilding and repair opportunities.

Koniambo Construction Works Packages Contract Award
The Company is pleased to advise that the Socalmo MacDow Joint Venture has been awarded 20 Construction Works Packages by Koniambo Nickel SAS (KNS) for the Koniambo Nickel project in New Caledonia.
The scope of works in the packages awarded includes the construction of above & underground pipe works, storage tanks, overland conveyors, an ore preparation plant and civil works.
Construction is expected to commence on site in September 2010.
The Koniambo Nickel project is the JV's second nickel sector infrastructure project in New Caledonia having previously delivered the Goro Nickel Port Project in 2005 to 2006.

Water Delivery Alliance Wins CCF Award
The Company is pleased to advise that the Water Delivery Alliance (McConnell Dowell, Bovis Lend Lease, Kellogg Brown and Root, Worley Parsons, Environmental Resource Management and Sydney Water) has won the 2010 CCF Earth Awards New South Wales Division for Excellence in Civil Construction. Awards were announced on Friday, June 25 at the NSW CCF Branch Dinner.
The CCF Earth Awards are Australia’s premier civil construction industry awards, and recognise contractors who display excellence in construction techniques, environmental management and project management. Each Branch holds State Awards, the winners of which are then in contention for the National Award, announced later this year.

Adelaide Desalination Plant Transfer Pipeline Safety Achievement
The company is pleased to advise that the McConnell Dowell Built Environs joint venture has achieved 500,000 man-hours LTI free on the Adelaide Desalination Plant Transfer Pipeline project.
The close co-operation and good safety communication and practices by all employees and sub-contractors has contributed to this LTI free result.

NZ Contractors’ Federation Awards Recipient
The Company is pleased to advise that we were the recipient of multiple Safety and Environmental awards at the recent NZ Contractors’ Federation Awards night in Auckland.
The Mechanical business was the Safety winner on the night in the projects under $500,000 category.
The Rosedale Outfall project won two safety awards and one environmental award on the night. The project was the joint Safety winner (projects over $10 million) as well as joint winner over all categories. The project was also the joint Environmental winner (projects over $10 million).
The awards are hotly contested and confirm our position as a leader in the Safety and Environmental fields in construction in New Zealand.

Built Environs strengthens position in WA market
South Australian-based building and engineering company Built Environs has today announced acquisition of a 100% interest in the Western Australian-based Perth Building Company (PBC).
This acquisition builds on the success of the very close relationship that’s developed between the two companies while working together in the Built Environs Perth Building Company joint venture (BEPBC JV).
BEPBC JV projects in WA include the award-winning Burswood Office redevelopment and the Ellenbrook Shopping Centre redevelopment, currently under construction.
Under the terms of the deal, all of the current PBC Directors and staff are remaining with the company, with PBC Director Adrian Ridderhof joining the Built Environs Senior Management Group as Building Manager for PBC, reporting to
GM Diesel Engine Plant Safety Achievement
The General Motors Diesel Engine Plant project in Thailand recently achieved 250,000 man-hours LTI free.
This milestone has been reached through the implementation of MacDow’s Safety Management System and close co-operation and good communication by all MacDow employees and sub-contractors.

Orchard MRT to Tangs Plaza Underpass Upgrade Contract Award
The Company is pleased to advise that McConnell Dowell South East Asia Pte Ltd has been awarded the design and construct contract for the Orchard MRT to Tangs Plaza Underpass Upgrade project by the Singapore Land Transport Authority.
The underground link, which was originally built by McConnell Dowell, will be upgraded between Orchard MRT and Tangs Plaza. The upgrade will involve the expansion of the pedestrian capacity of the existing underpass, as well as providing for new underground retail areas. The dimensions of the underpass are 46m long x 36m wide and 10m deep.
Design commences immediately with site works due to begin in July for a 43 month duration.

Toka Tinding Mine Gold Processing Plant Contract Award
The Company is pleased to advise that PT McConnell Dowell Indonesia (MDI) has been awarded the construction of a gold processing plant by PT Tambang Tondano Nusajaya at their Toka Tinding mine site in North Sulawesi.
The project includes earthworks, civil, structural, tanks, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and commissioning of the plant.
MDI has been working on the site since November last year refurbishing the existing equipment, and the good work done by the people on site has helped to secure this award.

Bogong Hydro Electric Scheme Industry Finalist
The Company is pleased to advise that the Bogong Hydro Electric Scheme project received a finalist award in the 2010 Australian Constructors Association Awards (ACAA) at the gala dinner recently held in Brisbane and attended by 400 industry leaders.
The Award reflects the development of a culture within the construction industry which strives for world’s best practice and also recognises outstanding construction achievements. The Chair of the 2010 ACAA judging panel, Professor Michael Dureau, said, “All seven finalists have created benchmarks for future projects to emulate, and all project teams understood and were committed to delivering excellent outcomes for the client, stakeholders and the environment.”

Ergon Energy Asset Inspection Contract Award
The Company is pleased to advise that Electrix Australia has been awarded a further Asset Inspection Contract for Ergon Energy’s Central Queensland region for a period of 3+1+1 years.
The Project Office has been established in Rockhampton for 8 years, and securing this new Contract is a result of hard work and continuous improvement by the Electrix team. The Contract will have more than 50 employees and contractors, spread across Central Queensland from Bowen to Bundaberg, and as far outback as Birdsville.
