Position Description - Commercial Managers
MAJOR OBJECTIVES
- The efficient and effective management of the commercial and contractual activities on the Sydney Desalination Project.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Effective and consistent implementation of the Company’s commercial policies and procedures.
- Commercial risks and opportunities are identified and addressed in a timely manner.
- Direct and co-ordinate all cost engineering, cost reporting and forecasting.
- Preparation of monthly progress claims for work completed.
- Assist in the preparation of request for quotations for subcontracts and supply items. Conduct negotiations with short listed subcontractors and suppliers. Arrange for subcontracts and supply contracts to be let.
- Preparation of progress certificates for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Preparation and submission of monthly commercial report to selected Company executives.
ANCILLARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Maintain a register of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure effective contract administration in conjunction with operational personnel.
- Assist contract administrators and project management as appropriate, in commercial matters, eg claims, contractual problems, disputes and preparing subcontract terms and conditions, and setting up administration
procedures with accounting. - Undertake post-contract completion reviews, analyse results, recommend improvement / corrective actions and report to management.
- Any other duties as may be required by the Company.
COMPETENCIES
- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications.
- Minimum of ten years experience in project / contractual engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse contractual / legal issues and provide solutions through appropriate problem
- Solving techniques.
- Sound commercial acumen accompanied by proven negotiation and inter-relationship skills evidenced by effective dispute resolutions.
- Able to quickly grasp concepts and apply innovative options to the status quo.
- Clear and definitive communication – written and verbal accompanied by competent presentation ability.
- Competent in use of all relevant in-house software.
